Allacapan
is the new commercial center for the second district considering its strategic
location in the northwestern part of Cagayan. It is situated in the borders of
Cagayan and Apayao and the barangays of Aparri with which they transact
commercial activities. Having a 34,248 population, the town is heavily dominated
by hard-working and industrious farmers from the Ilocos region who had tilled
the green forests and vast lands that made Allacapan known as the rice granary
and banana center of the province. It is noted that the town houses the three
major rice traders in the region, the National Food Authority, and the National
Irrigation Administration located at Matucay, Allacapan, Cagayan. The town has
an estimated income of 82.79 million.
Allacapan
is the first in the province who had opened 3 integrated schools, giving
chances for barangay elementary schools to have functional secondary curriculum
within their supervision.
