A visit in the province of Cagayan would not be complete without a visit to the Callao Caves. Which was declared as National Park under RA No. 7357. It is considered as one of the province’s major tourism destinations. Aside from being a popular tourist site, Peñablanca is also the largest municipality in the province.

Things to Do During your Visit
  1. Visit the Callao Caves Tourist Zone for a caving adventure. Climb 182 steps to get to the Callao Caves.  Explore the Roc Cave or Sierra Cave.
  2. Watch the flight of millions of bats at sundown. ( Around 6 PM-7 PM)
  3. Relax and enjoy at the Pinacanauan River and Mororan

How to Get There

There are a dozen bus companies plying the Manila-Tuguegarao route. Buses from Manila are commonly stationed at Cubao or at Sampaloc. I suggest taking the night trip as travel time from Manila to Tuguegarao may take around 10-12 hours. Fare ranges between P 600- 750 depending on the type of bus you intend to take.

For independent motorist, take the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and exit at the Sta. Rita exit or  you can also take the Subic, Clark, Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and exit at La Paz, Tarlac. Peñablanca is the located just before you reach Tuguegarao City but I suggest getting off at the Tuguegarao and use the city as your take off point to the different municipalities in the province.
